Personal Theory of Learning:
- Everyone can learn when they are interested in a subject, or love it
- People learn in different ways, so I want to be able to change my methods of teaching, if I need to explain it in a different way so a student can understand. (This reminds me very much of my Math and Chemistry teachers)
-Learning should be an enjoyable experience.

The Goals for Instruction:
- Hopefully, the joy and understanding outweighs the amount of frustration.
- The teacher should have patience, kindness, and especially enthusiasm.
- Everyone needs to be included; no one feels left out because they are confused or different.
- Students should feel like they can approach me and get help from me whenever they need it.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Students in the Process
- Be willing to learn, and get help when needed.
- Have an open mind to new concepts and ideas.
- Have patience, learn to communicate, be able to work with others.
- Trying to go beyond what is in the minimum expectations- trying to further their own knowledge of the subject and gain
a deeper understanding for themselves.
*A lot of this will fall into place if the teacher follows the goals- students will react well to a positive teacher and will love the class*

Roles of Instructor:
- To assist, and support
- Should be able to eventually step away and let the students have some independence and do things on their own. The whole point of a teacher is to give a student knowledge so that they can flourish on their own, not rely on a teacher forever.
- Ask questions to the students themselves, and get them to think about certain things and answer and discover themselves.

How Does Learning and Teaching Happen?
- It happens when communication is present- both are able to talk, but also able to listen, absorb, and think about what is in the conversation.
- When one is determined to enlighten people, and when one is determined to further their own knowledge.
- Beginning with small bits of information to gradually build the tower of knowledge.
- Being able to change perspectives.

Interaction
- It would be nice to have a friendship to friendship kind of relationship with the teacher and the student, but that is difficult to
achieve.
- This is because both parties would have less respect for each other at some points, and it is important to respect each other, especially when all the teacher wants to do is help.
- So a very relaxed and casual atmosphere while still keeping it semi-professional?

Primary Purposes of Education
- To Help, or Enlighten
- To see their excitement when they understand and do well.
- To let students discover themselves.

Valued Methods
- The "Asking Questions" method is one of my favourites.
- Not only does it let me find out where a student is with their knowledge, it also shows them where they are with their knowledge, and how much they need to learn or already know.
- When a student is confused at a certain concept, it is best to try to start from a point where they understand, or a bit before that.
- In order to do this, we break things down into questions; if they do not know a concept, then we continue to break it down until we get to a part that we do know.
- After this, we build the knowledge of the student back up by explaining it, and then they will be able to have a re-established understanding of the concept and background.
- This method also works when a student has lost confidence in themselves; they clearly have a good understanding, they just are not aware of what they know.
